FIRST THINGS FIRST

Getting Started

It starts with a free consultation. Reach out through our contact page, tell us a little about what’s bringing you in, and we’ll set up a time to talk. You can also learn more about the process on our new clients page.

We’ll talk about what’s been feeling hardest lately, what you’re hoping for from therapy, and any practical questions about scheduling or insurance. You can learn more about what to expect on our new clients page.

We match based on what you’re working through, scheduling needs, session format, and the type of therapeutic support you're looking for. You can meet our team on the therapists page.

The first session is a conversation, not an interrogation. You don’t need to prepare anything or tell your entire story at once. Our new clients page can help you understand what to expect.

Absolutely. Figuring that out together is part of the consultation process. You can also explore our areas of expertise to see some of the concerns we commonly help clients navigate.

It depends on what you're working through and what you're hoping to gain from therapy. Some clients come for a season, while others stay longer for deeper work. Whether you're seeking individual therapy or couples therapy, treatment length is tailored to your goals.

THE LOGISTICS

Scheduling

Sessions are 45 to 55 minutes, depending on the format and your therapist's approach. You can learn more about getting started on our new clients page.

Most clients start weekly, which gives the work enough consistency to build momentum. Frequency can shift over time based on your goals and the type of support you're seeking through individual therapy or couples therapy.

Often, yes. Many clients mix formats depending on their week. In-person availability depends on your therapist's schedule at our Brooklyn, NY and Kendall Park, NJ offices. We also offer virtual therapy for clients throughout New York and New Jersey.

Reach out to your therapist directly or contact us. Your therapist can help with rescheduling and answer any questions about availability.
